The mechanical completion signing ceremony for the Shanghai Huayi 100,000 t/a Green Methanol Project, undertaken by CNCEC-TCC as the lead EPC contractor, was officially held. As the contract was signed, this key project, which had been under intensive construction for nine months, officially entered the trial operation phase. What is even more remarkable is that qualified refined methanol products were produced immediately upon mechanical completion.
The project is currently the largest in China in terms of production capacity for producing green methanol from biomethane, and it is also the world’s largest single-train project producing green methanol from feedstock derived from municipal wet waste and other waste resources. From the start of site civil construction in March 2025 to mechanical completion and commissioning in December, this intensive campaign achieved the milestones of “construction, mechanical completion, and commissioning all within the same year.” It not only fills the gap in Shanghai’s green methanol industry, but also sets a replicable and scalable “CNCEC model” for urban green transformation and international shipping center upgrades, driven by the innovative use of waste as a resource and an efficient, collaborative construction approach.
