Recently, the IBN ZAHR C4 Low-Temperature Recovery Project, undertaken by CNCEC-TCC as the general contractor, was mechanically completed 9 days ahead of schedule. The implementation process achieved “zero injuries, zero accidents, and zero losses,” continuing the excellent record of on-time completion.

This project is another successful example of cooperation between CNCEC-TCC and SABIC. It aims to improve the performance of the Low-Temperature Recovery System (LTRS) in the dehydrogenation unit of the MTBE plant, increasing the recovery rate of C4 from 55% to 99.5%, and increasing the recovered C4 amount from 48,000 tons/year to 84,000 tons/year, thus increasing the MTBE production by 50,000 tons/year.

The contract for the project was signed in October 2022, and construction officially started the following month. In the face of challenges in safety, quality, risk, schedule, and cost management, CNCEC-TCC’s project team applied the Rapid Route Strategy, focusing on the critical path, arranging procurement schedules reasonably, and optimizing resource allocation. They emphasized communication and collaboration, maintaining close coordination with the client’s project management team, patent holders, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring prompt feedback and implementation. The team adhered to the principles of safety and quality, driven by technology, and closely managed project progress. By continually fostering a sense of ownership, unity, and overcoming difficulties, the project was mechanically completed 9 days ahead of schedule, earning high praise and thanks from the SABIC client and showcasing the “hard work, teamwork, innovative model, and excellent service” spirit of the Saudi team.

The successful implementation of this project has strengthened the partnership between CNCEC-TCC and SABIC, laying a solid foundation for CNCEC-TCC’s overseas development. Moving forward, the project team will continue to provide start-up services for the client, and the CNCEC-TCC Gulf Engineering Technology Center will continue to uphold the service philosophy of “helping others achieve success while developing ourselves,” focusing on deepening the Saudi market, expanding the Gulf market, and contributing to the company’s successful completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
