Indonesia's First Soda Ash Project Signed! China National Chemical Engineering Tianchen Corporation Signs EPC Contract for Pupuk Kaltim Soda Ash Project
Recently, CNCEC-TCC Corporation signed the EPC contract for the soda ash project with Pupuk Kaltim, Indonesia. The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from the Indonesian National Fertilizer Group Pupuk Indonesia, including Chairman Rahmad Prihadi, Board Members James H. Nababan, Wono Budi Jajuno, and others from Pupuk Kaltim, the Indonesian fertilizer company in East Kalimantan, including Chairman Budi Susilo and Directors Hanggar Patriantha, Puwanto, and Kamaruzaman. CNCEC-TCC’s Chairman and Party Secretary, Jiao Zaiyue, attended the ceremony via video conference and delivered a speech, while Vice Presidents Ji Li, Zhao Minwei, and Lu Ling also joined online. The Chairman of ETI Indonesia, Suriyanto, represented the consortium member at the event.
Jiao Zaiyue expressed heartfelt thanks to the owners for their trust and support. He noted that this project is Indonesia's first soda ash project and marks the first implementation of the Chinese Hou's soda ash process (combined soda process) in Indonesia. It also marks the beginning of a partnership between the Indonesian National Fertilizer Group and CNCEC-TCC Corporation. CNCEC-TCC will adhere to its corporate mission of "Creating a Better Life with Engineering Wisdom," leveraging its technological experience, management capabilities, and resource advantages to provide high-quality services, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery, and setting a new milestone in the chemical industry cooperation between China and Indonesia.
Representatives from the owners, Rahmad Prihadi and Budi Susilo, also delivered speeches. They emphasized that soda ash is a key basic chemical product. The signing of this project is a historic moment for Indonesia's chemical industry, as it will not only create added value from the fertilizer industry but also change Indonesia's reliance on imported soda ash. This project will contribute to the country's chemical industry independence and support several strategic government plans, including increasing compound fertilizer production through ammonium chloride byproducts to promote food self-sufficiency and using CO2 as a raw material to help achieve carbon reduction and green economic goals. The project is expected to have a positive impact on Indonesia's economy, environment, and society, and they look forward to working closely with the contractor for mutual development.
The project is a key national project for Indonesia and, as the country’s first soda ash project, will respond to several national strategic initiatives and promote rapid development in the downstream soda ash industry. As the first deployment of the Chinese Hou's soda ash process (combined soda process) in Indonesia, it is also a model for the "T+EPC" business model, showcasing CNCEC-TCC's expertise in the soda ash field. This project will help establish a new industry benchmark for cooperation between China and Indonesia under the "Belt and Road" initiative.
Representatives from CNCEC-TCC's International Business Department, Project Management Department, General Management Department, Indonesia Company, and the Indonesia Soda Ash Project Department participated in the signing ceremony.
