Recently, the steel space frame of the circular stockyard in the General Design Institute and Gasification & Auxiliary Facilities Project (Section II, Phase I) of the Utility Island Project at Lianyungang Petrochemical Industrial Base, EPC-contracted by CNCEC-TCC, was successfully topped out. This milestone marks the completion of the main structure of the most challenging, highest-risk, and longest-duration standalone project within the coal storage and transportation system.

The circular stockyard features a 100-meter diameter and 60-meter height, with a maximum coal storage capacity of 100,000 tonnes. It is the largest coal storage facility of its type in the Utility Island of Lianyungang Petrochemical Industrial Base and represents TCC’s first EPC project incorporating this category of stockyard in a storage-transport system. The main structure adopts a "raft foundation + concrete ring wall + steel lattice shell + single-layer profiled steel sheet" design. The space frame was erected using a "modular block-lifting" construction process, with installation progressing "bottom-up and outward-inward ring by ring", significantly shortening the construction cycle for such facilities.

As an ultra-hazardous project, the project team and all participating units prioritized strict adherence to safety protocols and quality control. During installation, they overcame adverse factors including spring gales, stringent precision requirements, complex operational environments, and high safety risks. Through united efforts and multifaceted measures, the team successfully completed the steel space frame topping-out milestone, earning high praise from the owner, supervision team, and all stakeholders.
